Classic FM’s Composer in Residence Debbie Wiseman returns to the Classic FM line-up with a new Saturday night series: From Wolf Hall to Concert Hall.
With Hilary Mantel’s Wolf Hall returning to our screens, Classic FM’s Composer-in-Residence Debbie Wiseman, who has also written the music to accompany the TV series, presents a new series. Over the next six weeks Debbie is celebrating music from and inspired by the Tudor era, and including parts of her score for the drama, broadcast on radio for the first time.
In this first episode, Debbie discovers how Thomas Tallis managed to navigate the politics of the time to work for four monarchs, plays a piece composed by the most famous Tudor ruler of them all, Henry VIII, and includes Prokofiev’s music for Romeo and Juliet; the composer was inspired by Shakespeare, whose life overlapped with that of the Tudors.
