Maestro Jose Serebrier in conversation with David Mellor

Sunday 19 October, 7pm. On David Mellor's show this week, Grammy award-winning conductor and composer Jose Serebrier is in the studio to discuss his life in classical music.

Hailed as the 'greatest master of orchestral balance' when he was just 21, Maestro Serebrier shares his memories of being taught and working alongside Leopold Stokowski, Antal Dorati and George Szell. 

He also discusses his most recent recordings of works by Dvorak and Glazunov, and tells the story of how Aaron Copland helped him into the United States after initially giving him the cold shoulder in Uruguay:
