While warming up for his show at Madison Square Garden in New York, piano legend Billy Joel asked this blind teenage pianist to play on stage with him – and absolutely made his day.
Logan Riman, a 14-year-old pianist who was born blind, got the chance to meet and play with his musical idol Billy Joel.
Back in April, Logan performed at Radio City Music Hall for the Garden of Dreams Foundation talent show, under the name ‘Logan Piano Man’.
Following his performance, people at the foundation arranged for him to meet the real ‘Piano Man’ in person, during a soundcheck for his show at Madison Square Garden, in New York. But Joel surprised him with a little something more…
“Out of nowhere, Mr. Billy Joel was gracious enough to ask Logan if he wanted to join him on stage to play,” the young pianist’s mother Leah Riman told CBS New York.

Logan started playing ‘Piano Man’, and Joel joined in. Their duet rings out through the arena, and it’s just beautiful.
“At Madison Square Garden… it was so cool. That was amazing,” Logan said.
When he was a baby, his mother Leah explains, music would calm Logan down. He started having piano lessons at two years old, which helped him a lot.
“He gets bullied a lot, he gets judged a lot, but people shouldn’t do that. He’s an incredible child, very smart, you get to know him, give him a chance, you’ll love him. Don’t judge people give them their chance,” she said.
“I am so thankful to Garden of Dreams for literally fulfilling his dream, my dream for him.”
Logan’s dream is to keep sharing his love of music with the world. And although he has a wide repertoire under his belt, the next song on his list is Billy Joel’s ‘Scenes from an Italian Restaurant’.
We look forward to seeing their next duet...
