The iconic Dr Who police box will receive a musical welcome from the players as they celebrate its arrival at Heathrow Airport.
The Tardis is landing at Heathrow Airport today, accompanied by the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Passengers travelling through the airport will be treated to performances of music from the Dr Who soundtracks, as well as appearances from Cybermen, Tardis photo booths, and genuine memorabilia.
Steven Moffat, Dr Who showrunner, said: “We are delighted to announce another extension to Heathrow's world-beating facilities - all of space and time in a stylish blue box, complete with phone. Heathrow with time travel - nobody need ever be late again.”
The performance comes as Dr Who fans across the globe celebrate the series' 50th anniversary in November. This weekend, the cast of the show including Matt Smith and Jenna coleman will be attending Comic Con, an entertainment convention in San Diego.
The orchestra will be performing until around 12.30pm. The Dr Who celebrations will continue in Heathrow's Terminal 5 for the rest of the day and throughout the summer.
