His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales visited the Classic FM studios today, telling John Suchet all about his love of classical music and, specifically, Hubert Parry.
The Prince of Wales guested on John's show just after midday, saying that Parry was "one of my favourite composers… Elgar thought he was remarkable."
He went on to say: "For some unknown reason, for me anyway and perhaps for other people, his music is so quintessentially English… it sums up all sorts of English visions, I find."
The music of Parry was also featured in the Royal Wedding of Prince Charles' son, Prince William, and Kate Middleton three years ago, something Prince Charles described as "a tiny bit of subtle influence."
HRH the Prince of Wales was visiting Classic FM with the Duchess of Cornwall as part of a tour of various radio companies for the Radio Day event. You can listen to the audio of Prince Charles' visit below.
