A true pro, still smashing it out at 93. And what a charmer too.
Ivry Gitlis, born in 1922, is a living violin legend, with perhaps one of the most varied careers in music history. He has played with the word’s most prestigious orchestras, including the Berlin Philharmonic, New York Philharmonic and London Philharmonic, and has recorded countless albums all over the globe.
He also performed with Yoko Ono on the Rolling Stones’ Rock ‘n’ Roll Circus, and played the role of a magician in the Truffault film L’Histoire d’Adele H.
That's some CV, and he's still making music well into his 90s. Here he charms the audience with music by Kreisler and von Paradis in a performance recorded in Provence just a few months ago.
If there was ever proof needed that music stays with you forever, this is it.
