The City Music Foundation, a new UK charity which provides classical, jazz and folk musicians with expert mentoring and guidance to help them build successful careers, has announced its list of artists for 2014.
The Foundation said: "In 2014 six soloists and three ensembles have been selected by a distinguished panel of judges led by Ian Ritchie and including Paul Cassidy, Joan Rodgers, Dominic Grier, Jennifer Pike and John Gihooly."
Those finalists were:
Foyle-Štšura Duo, violin and piano
Dinara Klinton, piano
Misha Mullov-Abbado, bass
Pedro Segundo, drums
Joseph Shiner, clarinet
Giacomo Smith, clarinet
Samson Tsoy, piano
Y-squared, cello and piano
The charity was founded to help more musicians succeed in bringing their ambitions to fruition via a structured financial and mentoring support system, with the aim of bringing fresh new talent to new audiences in the UK and beyond.
