The heartwarming video shows the multi-award-winning singer, Legend, playing a piano duet with his one-year-old – and it’s simply adorable.
John Legend and his son have been playing ‘My Favourite Things’ together on the piano – and we can’t cope with the cuteness.
The uplifting song originally featured in the 1959 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, The Sound of Music, and is still popular with music fans today – largely thanks Julie Andrews stunning version for the 1965 film.
In the video – posted by Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen – we see the American singer, songwriter, producer and actor take a seat beside his one-year-old son, Miles, to play the piano duet.
As the tiny toddler alternates between a B flat and a C, his father watches on and improvises with beautifully rich chords, in his distinct jazz style.
Then, Legend sings the words we all know and love: “Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes, snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes.
“Silver-white winters that melt into springs, these are a few of my favourite things.”
The heartwarming moment was captured by the singer’s wife, Chrissy Teigen, who later shared the footage on Instagram with the caption “stop everything” – and we can totally see why.
John Legend has taken home an impressive number of awards in his career – including ten Grammy Awards, the Academy Award for ‘Best Original Song’ in 2015 for co-writing ‘Glory’, and a Tony Award for co-producing the Broadway show, Jitney.
But there can surely be nothing more rewarding than performing the music to a film classic with your baby on your favourite musical instrument.
Simply adorable.
