If Happy Birthday isn’t your song of choice for handwashing, the members of this video game orchestra are here to console you...
A quarantined Japanese video game orchestra has shared a cheery 20-second performance clip of the Super Mario theme to encourage people to wash their hands during the coronavirus outbreak.
Nintendo’s adventurous little character first hit our screens in 1985 – and ever since then, Koji Kondo and Mahito Yokota’s undeniably catchy soundtrack has become somewhat iconic among gamers and music fans.
So of course, the New Japan BGM Philharmonic Orchestra all agree it makes the perfect accompaniment for your COVID-19 handwashing regime.
In the video (watch below), we see the musicians lift their instruments for the light-hearted collaboration as the conductor leads them in.

Then, we’re treated to what just might be the world’s speediest concert – complete with virtual snippets of the game.
With the current coronavirus advice stating that you should wash your hands for a minimum of 20 seconds, the orchestra says you should keep washing until at least the ‘Overworld’ theme has ended.
And by the time the ‘Course Clear Fanfare’ has finished playing (at around 30 seconds), your mitts should be fresh and ready to go.
Well guys, if it involves video game music, we’re totally on board with it...
