“Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at an airport. And a massive brass band to surprise everyone”
Well, this takes the heartwarming Love Actually-style airport scenes to the next level entirely. A big band had their new conductor arriving into the country, and they wanted to give her a warm welcome. And they didn't want to wait until first rehearsals.
The Danish Radio Big Band decided to meet their new maestro, Japanese conductor Miho Hazama as soon as she entered their country, at the arrivals gate of Copenhagen Airport.
And you better believe that they brought their instruments.
Life as a musician and conductor can be trying and demanding. Tokyo-born Miho works across continents as a composer, arranger and conductor. This video is a wonderful reminder of the joy, warmth and connection you can find in music (sometimes when you least expect it).

Miho Hazama and DR Big Band LIVE
Looks like the Danish Radio Big Band have got a fantastic new conductor, and Miho has got loads of great new friends in her new job. Oh, and we’ve all got goosebumps.
