Scottish violinist Nicola Benedetti has told Classic FM her views on the future of classical music and social media.
Violinist Nicola Benedetti has voiced her opinion on the future of classical music at the annual Association of British Orchestras conference in Leeds, and highlighted the importance of taking part in active listening.
"The music is not designed to allow you to switch off… By the very nature of sitting down to a 40-50 minute symphony, to get the most of it you are going to be actively taking part in a journey," she said.
Speaking to Classic FM's Anne-Marie Minhall, Benedetti also touched on the nature of social media in the busy life of a classical musician, and how her album The Silver Violin has given her faith in listeners' ability to embrace new works.
