When you’re a great conductor, you don’t have time for babysitting musicians. And when they’re really getting on your nerves, sometimes you have to yell. Just look at Leopold Stokowski in the video above.
And then enjoy the rest of it, because it’s a joyful and enlightening experience - pianist Jerome Lowenthal is note-perfect as Stokowski works the orchestra intensely hard, but it’s all done with plenty of explanation and reasoning.
