This insane viola concerto requires its soloist to literally start screaming halfway through a movement.
Jörg Widmann, a German conductor, clarinettist and quite frankly one of the most intriguing composers of our time, has written a completely mad piece of music: his Viola Concerto.
The concerto, which also calls for a whisky glass for the pianist, requires its soloist to enter into a full-on bout of screaming.
A Haydn string quartet, but the viola is a BALLOON >
Widmann wrote his concerto in 2015 for the brilliant French violist Antoine Tamestit, who performs it with great panache alongside the Frankfurt Radio Symphony, conducted by Andrés Orozco-Estrada.
