Hungarian pianist Lívia Rév celebrated her 101st birthday in the company of a beautiful Chopin Nocturne.
She may be 101-years-old, but Hungarian pianist Lívia Rév proves that age is just a number in this incredibly beautiful video of her playing Chopin’s Nocturne Op. 20 in C Sharp minor filmed by friend and fellow performer Klara Csordas on her birthday.
Lívia Rév is a Franco-Hungarian pianist and pedagogue whose career spans over 90 years. After starting the piano at the age of five, Lívia won the Grand Prix des Enfants Prodiges at the age of nine and first played with an orchestra at the age of twelve.
She studied at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music, the Leipzig Conservatory and the Vienna Conservatory, then travelled the world playing in some of the greatest concert halls alongside some of the most famous orchestras.
She even once played in front of Queen Elizabeth II in the 1940s!
You can see from the video above, she still has her light touch and clarity today that brought her to fame in the late 1920s/early 1930s.
Bravo Lívia, and Happy Birthday from Classic FM!
