John Williams: Across the Stars – Anne-Sophie Mutter (violin)
Alpha
All this week, John is showcasing this special collaboration between John Williams and violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter.
Across the Stars is a collection of Williams’ most iconic scores, including the Theme from Schindler’s List and Hedwig’s Theme from Harry Potter, in new arrangements by the composer for violin.
The pair worked together closely for this project, with Williams telling Billboard recently that “Anne-Sophie has brought new life to the pieces” with “a new point of view, a new way of hearing them [and] a new way of revealing whatever is in them.”
The disc also features highlights from Star Wars and Dracula. We can’t wait to play them for you.

Mozart: Clarinet Quintet – Florent Héau (clarinet)
Deutsche Grammophon
This collection containing Mozart’s Clarinet Quintet, K. 581, as well as the K. 378 and K. 380 Quartets, is part of Alpha’s ongoing effort to champion Baroque and Classical treasures and rarities ripe for rediscovery.
The soloist is Florent Héau, a French clarinetist with Paris Conservatoire and tuition with the legendary Michel Arrignon in his lineage, and here he teams up with the Manfred Quartet.
Mozart composed his Clarinet Quintet in 1789 for a friend of his – the clarinettist Anton Stadler.
