John's CD of the week: Sibelius - New Zealand Symphony Orchestra

Monday 28 March: This is the third volume in the Naxos record label’s series of Sibelius orchestral works, with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra conducted by Pietari Inkinen.

The main focus here is the composer’s dramatic and popular Symphony No.2, but the disc also includes Sibelius’ Karelia Suite, a series of musical tableaux based on stirring episodes from Finnish history.
