Romain Guyot - Mozart: Clarinet Concerto/Clarinet Quintet
A beautiful performance from Frenchman Romain Guyot, principal clarinettist with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe. Classic FM Drive Featured Album, 5 August 2013.
Mozart's concerto and quintet for clarinet were both originally dedicated to his friend, the clarinettist Anton Stadler. Here, Frenchman Romain Guyot has given both works sparkling performances with his colleagues from the Chamber Orchestra of Europe.
He plays a basset clarinet, the kind of instrument that would have been used in original performances of the works during Mozart's time. Guyot's playing is at turns mellifluous, crisp and bright, and deeply soulful.
Beautiful performances of much loved favourites.
