The Film: Atonement is based on the British romance novel by Ian McEwan. The aspiring writer Briony Tallis, as a 13-year-old, irrevocably changes the course of several lives when she accuses her older sister's lover of a crime he did not commit.

The Score: The score for Atonement was composed by Dario Marianelli. He won Best Original Score at the 80th Academy Awards and a Golden Globe Award for Best Original Score for Atonement. Marianelli has also received Oscar nominations for Best Achievement in Music Written for Motion Pictures, Original Score for Pride & Prejudice (2005).
