Composed in 2008, this Patrick Hawes piece has quickly found an audience and much popularity.
The Highgrove Suite began as a one-movement piece entitled Goddess Of The Woods and received its premiere at Covent Garden on the occasion of The Prince Of Wales' sixtieth birthday in November 2008. Three further movements were commissioned, each inspired by a different area of the gardens at Highgrove.
Since its composition and the Royal seal of approval, it's gone on to hold a rather dear place in the nation's musical life, both as a recognition of the Prince's birthday, but also as a piece that continues that most English of musical traditions - compositions inspired by the natural world, in whatever form it may take.
