John's Cd of the week: Edward Grieg Complete Symphonic Works

Monday 29 August: The conductor Eivind Aadland comes from a family where folk music played an important role, and as a child he came into intensive contact with the music of Grieg.

Fast forward on a few years, and in 2003 Aadland became the Chief Conductor and Artistic Director of the Trondheim Orchestra. So, it’s not surprising that, today, Aadland continues to champion Grieg on disc.

This new CD sees Aadland conducting the WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne, for a collection of orchestral works which includes the perennially popular Holberg Suite and the orchestral miniature The Last Spring.
