The celebrity couple made their way to the LA Opera production of Einstein on the Beach - only to leave well before the end of the four hour opera marathon.
Keen-eyed opera-lovers in Los Angeles were surprised to see Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, accompanied by an entourage, making their way into the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion on Friday night after the performance had started.
According to the LA Sun, the couple bought cocktails and took their seats around an hour into the performance. After having their drinks confiscated, they left after an hour of music.
Although missing huge chunks of the opera probably isn't what Philip Glass had in mind for his audiences, Kim and Kanye were merely following guidelines offered by the composer: given the length of the work, and the fact there's no interval, audience members are permitted to enter and leave as desired.
This isn't the first time Kanye's demonstrated a love for all things classical. In 2010 he dipped into the world of opera with a classically inspired 35-minute music video, Runaway.
