Classic FM's Nick Bailey praises an excellent soundtrack that fuses the likes of Glass, Satie and Rachmaninov with Arabic flavours

Artists: Various artists
Rating: 5/5
Genre: Orchestral

From the moment the Brazilian group Uakti plays Paru River by Philip Glass this is an album to savour. Yes is the story of a passionate love affair between an American woman and a Middle Eastern man, with a soundtrack reflecting their cultural differences. The score ranges from Rachmaninov to music written by the film’s director, Sally Potter, that is reminiscent of Pink Floyd. But it’s an Arabic version of one of Satie’s Gnossiennes that steals the show.
