The ‘Up’ theme tune, but it’s played by a string quartet

Here’s a gorgeous string cover of Michael Giacchino’s theme from ‘Up’.

Remember Up, the Pixar film where the old man’s wife dies (not even a spoiler - it happens in like, the first 10 minutes), but then he develops an adorable friendship with a strange boy called Russell and they float away into the sky in a house dragged by balloons?

Well, it’s got a truly gorgeous theme written by none other than Michael Giacchino, but here it's played by a string quartet with lots of mischievous pizzicato and lovely legato melodies.

It’s beautiful, and the video – by Dolce Ensemble String Quartet – now has YouTube views in the hundreds of thousands.
