King’s Speech bags 12 Oscar nominations
The King’s Speech, which has been wowing British audiences since its release, has triumphantly picked up twelve Oscar nominations.
It’s emerged that Colin Firth will battle James Franco, Jesse Eisenberg, Jeff Bridges and Javier Bardem for the Best Actor gong. Meanwhile, Helena Bonham-Carter faces competition from Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, Hailee Steinfeld and Jaki Weaver for Best Supporting Actress.
The hotly contested Best Film category will see The King’s Speech pitted against Black Swan, The Fighter, Inception, The Kids Are All Right, The King's Speech, 127 Hours, The Social Network, Toy Story 3, True Grit, and Winter's Bone.
Other nominations picked up by the film include Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Screenplay.
The Oscar ceremony will take place on February 27 at the Kodak Theatre.
