Debussy: 24 Preludes

Debussy's preludes are given the orchestral treatment with this luscious new album from the Royal Scottish National Orchestra
When one thinks of Debussy, one thinks of vast, visionary ideas condensed into the confines of the keyboard. And with both books of preludes (completed in 1910 and 1913), that's certainly the case. With this fantastic release, though, they've been ripped from the piano and expanded for a full orchestra.
The Royal National Scottish Orchestra gives huge depth to these piano favourites, rearranged for larger forces by Slovakian composer Peter Breiner and conducted by Jun Märkl. A real treat for Debussy fans, and a new way to hear some old favourites.
The album is not released until 3 September but John Brunning will be treating you to a preview track from the album every evening this week at 6.15pm on Classic FM Drive.
