An award-winning pianist tackles Chopin's notoriously difficult concertos. Album of the Weekend, 1-2 March 2014.
Since winning the silver medal at the 2000 Frederic Chopin Competition in Warsaw, Ingrid Fliter has built a reputation as a first-rate Chopin interpreter.
Here she joins with the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, celebrating its 40th anniversary year, and conducted by Jun Märkl for an outstanding set of the great - and fiendishly hard to play - piano concertos by the great composer.
It's a breathtaking performance. The orchestra's subtle and sensitive playing perfectly accompany Fliter's strongly expressive interpretation, which is at turns lyrical and powerful.
