Tony Banks on his Six Pieces for Orchestra
We've been talking to Tony Banks, the former keyboard player from British prog rock band Genesis about his new orchestral album, Six: Pieces for Orchestra.
The album is Tim Lihoreau's CD of the Week this week, and is made up of a set of six pieces for orchestra, performed by the City of Prague Phiharmonic Orchestra and featuring soloists including young British violinist Charlie Siem.
This is the second venture in to the classical world from Tony Banks. His first classical album, Seven – A Suite For Orchestra garnered much critical acclaim when it was released by Naxos in 2004.
Classic FM's Lucy Coward sat down with Tony to talk about the album, how it came together and how the music industry has changed.
Watch our interview with Tony Banks below, and hear a preview of the new album when Tim Lihoreau, sitting in for John Suchet, features it as Classic FM’s CD of the Week – every morning, just after 10.
