A team from Welsh National Opera has completed the Tenovus Three Peaks Challenge, scaling the three peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon within 24 hours and making it back to work in time for a rehearsal of The Mastersingers of Nuremberg.
The six-strong team, drawn from Welsh National Opera's Orchestra, Library, MAX department and Company Management, trained for months beforehand and set an original fundraising target of £1600. This has now been increased to £2500. Tenovus provides support for people with cancer and their families, in their communities.
Team-leader Georgina Govier said: "It was a fantastic team experience - we had a ball. Our team, which included our brilliant drivers from Pegasus, was made up of people with various levels of fitness and abilities and we really pulled together to complete the task in an amazing 23 hours and 38 minutes."
The WNO team joined more than 400 people in the challenge to raise a total of £100,000 for Tenovus.
