The great Russian conductor Valery Gergiev brought his 15th Rotterdam Festival to a close before the weekend with a performance of the Mahler 2. He's made the festival very much his own, and he's involved in just about every key event. He tells Arts Daily about Rotterdam, and its theme of Destruction and Reconstruction, as he gears up to launch the LSO's new season later this month.
