Peter Oundjian's first season at the Royal Scottish National Orchestra last year saw him take on a brand new challenge - but what does this season hold for him?
Classic FM's Jamie Crick was on hand to quiz Oundjian about the RSNO's new season, which includes a potentially spectacular rendition of Holst's Planet Suite in October, all the more apt seeing as Holst himself used to be a member of the orchestra.
The new season, which begins this Friday with a concert of Bach, Pärt and Britten, will also see the orchestra heading out into the far-flung reaches of Scotland as part of their touring commitments, something Oundjian says is vitally important to the orchestra's role.
"We're the orchestra that really travels around a lot… there's a major opportunity to make a difference to the whole nation."
