Kennedy to lead Duke Ellington tribute

Nigel Kennedy will present ‘A Night of Duke Ellington’ at Latitude Festival on Thursday 15 July.

Britain’s most versatile violinist will be accompanied by his Orchestra of Life, a brand new ensemble of exceptional young musicians, and his jazz outfit, The Nigel Kennedy Quintet, composed of the most dynamic musicians on the jazz scene. They will celebrate jazz icon Duke Ellington, whose career spanned more than 50 years.

Nigel Kennedy’s performance will open Latitude Festival, this year taking place between 15th and 18th July in Southwold, Suffolk and including pop and classical music concerts, dance, literature readings and film.

Kennedy’s new young ensemble The Orchestra of Life made its UK debut last weekend as part of Kennedy’s Polish Weekend at Southbank Centre, performing the music of Duke Ellington alongside Bach.
