Nicola talks to Classic FM's Bob Jones about her new recording, love of Bruch, quest for a work life balance and plans for the future.
Nicola Benedetti's latest CD is receiving amazing reviews. She's paired Bruch with Tchaikovsky on a recording designed to show off her dazzling virtuosity.
The Bruch has been part of her repertoire since she was eight, and she's finally bowed to the wishes of audiences to get the concerto into the shops. The Tchaikovsky is there, she says, as an emotional contrast.
It's not so long ago that Nicola took time out to stand back from the treadmill of performances to work with new teachers in Vienna, and decide what she really wanted to do with her musical life. Now she's back with a vengeance - but more in control, and continuing to forge an international performing career.
