The LSO do it outdoors!
Classic FM’s Orchestra in the City of London have announced a series of free shows in the capital.
The LSO will play a number of free concerts this year in an effort to reach out to first-time concert-goers as well as music enthusiasts. The open air performances lead up to the arrival of the 2012 Olympics, which commence on July 27.
The first concert will take place at Trafalgar Square on May 12 and will see the LSO perform Stravinsky's Firebird Suite and The Rite of Spring.
Principal Conductor Valery Gergiev added:
“I congratulate the LSO and BMW on this initiative. I believe it is so important to take music beyond the concert hall. I hope that performing these great works in such an impressive outdoor space will encourage many new people to experience the very special sound and experience of a truly great orchestra.”
