The superstar pianist played two beautiful Romantic piano works for a star-studded audience
The Global Awards 2019 took place at the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo on 7 March. And Lang Lang performed as part of the glamorous ceremony.
He performed Chopin’s virtuoso Grande Valse Brillante followed by Beethoven’s delicate piano miniature, 'Für Elise'.
Chopin’s Grande Valse Brillante was the composer’s first published waltz for solo piano – published in 1834. And it’s gone on to become one of the composer’s best-loved works.

'Für Elise' is one of Beethoven’s most famous pieces and – unusually for the pieces that Lang Lang performs – it’s a favourite with beginner pianists.
It’s also one of the pieces that appears on his new album, Piano Book, which brings together pieces that were important to the pianist when he was growing up.
