Julian Lloyd Webber and Jiaxin Cheng in Interview

Julian Lloyd Webber and his wife Jiaxin Cheng, also a cellist, will give their first concerts together in October, since getting married last year.

They tell Classic FM what it’s like performing together, and whether musical arguments ever threaten their marital bliss!

Julian also talks about the music education project he leads, In Harmony, which he says is “one of the most exciting things I’ve ever done”. We ask both Julian and Jiaxin if children stand more chance of making it as professional musicians if they have musical parents, and Julian says experiencing music is a ‘birth right’, which he believes has been neglected over the last 20 or 30 years.

Aside from their concerts together this season, Julian and Jiaxin also have busy individual performing schedules, and Julian is working towards a big concert to celebrate his 60th birthday next April.
