Classic FM has UK premiere of Il Volo
This week Classic FM has the first UK play of Il Volo's unique version of the popular Italian standard O Sole Mio.
The fresh-faced trio made up of Piero (17), Ignaizo (16) and Gianluca (16) have already enjoyed phenomenal worldwide success with their own brand of operatic pop. Today, UK audiences can finally hear what all the fuss is about when we play O Sole Mio on Classic FM Drive Powered by Honda, between 5pm and 8pm. The trio unleash their debut album Il Volo on October 31st.
Il Volo met in 2009 when the three members appeared individually on Italy’s equivalent of Britain’s Got Talent. The group’s debut self-titled album features a collection of traditional Italian standards, old favourites and brand new songs. The young trio were also lucky enough to be lent a hand by musicians from the London Symphony Orchestra who recorded parts for the album in Abbey Road Studios.
Il Volo singer Gianluca explained the trio's appeal, "Our music is operatic pop/pop-opera and we hope to be able to bring this to both the younger and the older generation."
Tune in from 5pm to hear O Sole Mio, and don't forget to tell us what you think on our Facebook page.
