The year’s most anticipated classical music concerts were recorded exclusively for Classic FM. Hear them on Sunday and Monday.
This weekend on Classic FM, we're giving you the chance to enjoy one of the most exciting concerts of the year – all from the comfort of your living room! Gustavo Dudamel is one of the world's most in-demand musicians: he was described by the New York Times as "the hottest conductor on the planet" and, last Saturday, he conducted his Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela in a sold-out concert at London's Royal Festival Hall. This concert was recorded exclusively for Classic FM – and at 3pm on Sunday, we're inviting you to enjoy all of it for yourself.
The programme includes the whole of Beethoven's Symphony No.3 ('Eroica'), which we'll be playing complete and uninterrupted, as well as Britten's Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra and Beethoven's Egmont Overture.
If all that wasn't enough, on Monday night from 8pm we'll be broadcasting the second of Dudamel's two London concerts with the Simon Bolivar Symphony Orchestra, which was recorded on Tuesday night. It includes an absolutely fantastic performance of An Alpine Symphony by Richard Strauss – so don't miss your chance to experience the orchestra in action for a second time.
