The chart-topping choirmaster popped in to Classic FM to explain his latest project, where he aims to inspire the next generation of singers
After receiving his OBE for services to music, achieving a No. 1 single with the Military Wives, and becoming a father to baby Gilbert this weekend, Gareth Malone is topping off his whirlwind year by launching a nationwide search for a new choir. Accomplished singers aged between 18-25 are invited to audition for the project, which will see the choir record and album and tour the world. He popped in to Classic FM to chat to Jamie Crick about the idea.
Gareth said: “My mission is to create a ground-breaking choir – celebrating the amazing talent in our country – and initiate a new choral style that is fresh, modern and utterly unique. Our aim will be to inspire a whole generation. Regardless of background, if you have the voice and the vision, I want you. Expect the unexpected…”
