David Garrett treats us with a live performance of the Andante from Bach's Violin Sonata No. 2 and Cry Me a River, by Justin Timberlake.
Championing a wide range of styles from rock to Baroque, violinist David Garrett feels he has a responsibility to perform the gems of the classical repertoire, as well as creating new material to draw in new fans of the violin. In between performing two pieces for Classic FM, he explained the motivation behind his diverse taste in music from the classical world and beyond.
He said: "Anybody who knows me realises that 50% of my time I spend doing core classical and 50% I do side projects like crossover in order to get attention for new audiences."
His latest album, simply titled Music, doesn't distinguish between genres, and includes music by Coldplay and Justin Timberlake alongside pieces by Bach, Chopin, and the Ode to Joy from Beethoven's musical monolith, the Symphony No. 9.
