Dame Evelyn Glennie hits new heights

From world tours to scaling the heights of Mount Kilimanjaro, the legendary percussionist tells Classic FM about her latest challenges.

Dame Evelyn Glennie was on top of the world recently. The internationally acclaimed percussionist, motivational speaker, composer, educationalist and jewellery designer found herself on top of Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. Between tours of Europe and North America, the legendary Scottish percussionist scaled one of the world’s biggest mountains in support of the charity Able Child Africa.

She's next in the UK at the end of May, but before that she'll be giving her first virtual masterclass, via Skype, on Friday 18th Febraury 2011 in a series called 'Distant Drumming’.
