Bryn Terfel, The Band of the Coldstream Guards, Rolando Villazón and soprano Julia Lezhneva have joined the already star-studded line-up for the Classical BRIT Awards 2010, on Thursday 13 May.
Bryn Terfel is a veteran of the Classical BRITs, having won multiple awards and nominated for Male Artist of the Year this year. Rolando Villazón returns to the Classical BRITs following his successful comeback to the opera stage and appearance as a mentor on Popstar to Operastar.
The Band of the Coldstream Guards have been nominated for NS&I Album of the Year, for Heroes. They will be making their debut Classical BRIT performance, as will 20-year-old soprano Julia Lezhneva, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa’s latest protégé.
As previously announced, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, who is to collect a Lifetime Achievement Award, will perform with the London Chamber Orchestra and conductor Christopher Warren-Green. André Rieu and the Johann Strauss Orchestra, whose album 'Forever Vienna' has remained at number one in the Official Classic FM Chart since the beginning of the year, will make their debut Classical BRIT Awards performance.
The evening will also see two unique collaborations between NS&I Album of the Year nominees: Blake, Camilla Kerslake and Howard Goodall’s Enchanted Voices will perform together, and Welsh singers Rhydian and Only Men Aloud will join forces.
The Classical BRIT Awards 2010 will feature the biggest selling classical artists of the past year. They will be presented by Classic FM’s very own Myleene Klass.
