André Rieu sells out Romanian concert tickets in hours

André Rieu has sold a huge 33,000 tickets for his forthcoming concerts in Romania in just one day.

Tickets for the concerts, scheduled for June 2015, were all sold within 15 hours of Rieu himself announcing the dates at a press conference on Tuesday, making them the fastest-selling tickets for an André Rieu concert ever.

The June 13th show sold out its 12,500 tickets in only three hours, while concerts for the following two days were also snapped up within a few hours afterwards.

Rieu commented: "I am very proud and very happy to be playing in Romania for the first time. I have been overwhelmed by the friendliness and warmth of the people there."

The concerts themselves will take place in Bucharest's Piata Constitutei and will feature Rieu's trademark Maastricht-style set, made famous by his annual televised concerts in his home town.

Rieu is currently on tour in the UK with his Johann Strauss Orchestra until December 22nd, with tickets and packages still available for some dates.
