The Other Guys, an a cappella choir from St Andrews, have released a festive single entitled 'Christmas Gets Worse Every Year' in a bid to get it to the Christmas No. 1 position. The group are currently at no. 4 in the Amazon download charts.
With the charts at Christmas being dominated by X Factor artists and anti-X Factor campaigns, an a cappella choir from St Andrews have recorded and released a single in an attempt to get to top of the singles chart.
Named The Other Guys, the choir is made up of students from St Andrews University in Scotland. The song, called 'Christmas Gets Worse Every Year' and currently at no. 4 in the Amazon download charts, was written by Oscar Foxley, with all proceeds going back into the Students' Association Bursary Fund at the university.
In a statement on the choir's website, they elaborate on their reasons for the campaign: "Over the past few years we feel the contest for Christmas Number One has consisted of X-Factor finalists and anti-X-Factor campaigns. This campaign is not one fuelled by negativity. Rather, we want to offer a positive alternative."
"We want to offer people a genuine, feel-good Christmas single that gets to the top of the charts on its own merit."
