Music teachers Emily Walker and Matthew Haworth have been presented with Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year awards at the Schools Prom in London.
Two music teachers have been awarded with Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year awards, presented to them by Lord Puttnam at the Music For Youth Schools Prom in London's Royal Albert Hall.
Emily Walker, music teacher at Carew Manor School in Sutton, was given the Special Education Needs Music Teacher of the Year award for her work there, and will benefit from a selection of musical instruments and equipment from Yamaha and specialist music software from Avid.
On receiving the award, Walker commented: "Winning this award means so much to me and the students at Carew Manor School. I feel that the arts are hugely important to children with special educational needs."
Matthew Haworth was the recipient of the Secondary Music Teacher of the Year award for his work at Egglescliffe School in Stockton-on-Tees. Haworth's school will also receive instruments and equipment from Yamaha and specialist music software from Avid.
Haworth commented: "I love music, and I love teaching. I will treasure this award for the rest of my career."
