Music teachers Kevin Byrne and Stephen West have been awarded the final two Music Teacher of the Year awards at this year's Schools Prom.
The Classic FM Music Teacher of the Year awards drew to a close last night as the final two awards were handed out. Kevin Byrne won the award for Private Music Teacher of the Year, while Stephen West scooped the award for Peripatetic Music Teacher of the Year.
Hailing from Hampshire and with over 40 years of experience as a musician, Kevin Byrne (pictured) commented: "I am thrilled at receiving this award as it endorses the philosophy of my old Army Band Master which is: 'Music is fun, for everyone.'"
Stephen West of East Renfrewshire was awarded the Peripatetic Music Teacher of the Year award, and commented: "I would like to sincerely thank all of the pupils from East Renfrewshire and the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland who nominated me."
Both awards were presented to the winners as part of the Music For Youth Schools Prom concerts, which took place on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday at the Royal Albert Hall.
