The South African soprano shared her thoughts on her career and her humble roots in an interview ahead of her performance at the Bristol Proms.
She's famous for being a singer from a South African township, who discovered opera on the radio. But now, Pumeza has come through music college and is performing on the world stage.

She explained a little about her involvement in the boundary-breaking Bristol Proms, where she performed Dido in Purcell's opera, Dido and Aeneas, sharing her story about how she came to international attention.
"I wouldn't say music was my escape from poverty; music was my form of enjoyment," she explained. "It's something that I loved most, and it kept me company. It's what i enjoyed doing."
