The Erebus Ensemble: Songs of Hope in 40 Voices
The Erebus Ensemble will round off the 2015 Bristol Proms with an experiment in surround sound choral music.
Saturday 1st August, 7:30pm
Bristol Old Vic Theatre
Thomas Tallis’ immortal Spem in Alium is the centre-piece and inspiration of this uniquely-staged concert. Under the direction of Tom Williams, The Erebus Ensemble (Handel’s Messiah, 2013, Dido & Aeneas, 2014) will embrace the acoustics of Bristol Old Vic’s auditorium to present an unforgettable, surround-sound performance.
The evening will also include premiere performances of original pieces by some of today’s most visionary composers. These compositions will be specially-written, conceived on the subject of hope and unleashed on all sides by a pure acoustic choir of 40.
With a programme including that Tallis classic and other works from the likes of Murray Gold, Richard Thomas and Josephine Stephenson, expect to be transported to another level of listening.
Programme to include works by:
Murray Gold
Richard Thomas
Kate Miller-Heidke
David Bednall
Josephine Stephenson
