Pierre Boulez has pulled out of conducting his forthcoming concerts at the Lucerne Festival in September due to a fractured shoulder.
The concerts, due to take place on the 7th and 9th of September, will now be conducted by Pablo Heras-Casaldo while the French conductor and compose recovers.
Boulez will still fulfil his role as the Lucerne Festival's Artistic Director, and will host the pre-concert discussions. He will also host a range of the festival's 40-minute concerts throughout its run.
The Lucerne Festival, held annually in Lucerne, Switzerland, was founded in 1938. Pierre Boulez founded the Lucerne Festival Academy in 2004 in the hope of schooling young musicians in contemporary music performance.
The concert on September 7th includes one work by Boulez: 'Cummings ist der Dichter / Le Soleil des Eaux'.
