Argentine pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim has won the Male Artist award at the Classic BRIT Awards 2013 - his first ever Classic BRIT.
After a breathtakingly busy year which saw him bring Beethoven to a new audience with his groundbreaking 'Beethoven For All' recordings and even hold the Olympic Flag during the London 2012 opening ceremony, Daniel Barenboim now has his first ever Classic BRIT to be proud of.
The veteran pianist and conductor fought off stiff competition from tenor Jonas Kafumann and pianist Lang Lang.
His award was announced at the star-studded Classic BRIT Awards ceremony in the Royal Albert Hall by theatre and TV actress, and star of 'Pat and Cabbage', Cherie Lunghi, who described all the nominees as "supremely talented."
"I don't really deserve it..." Barenboim said, modestly in his video acceptance speech.
